Napster was originally a music file-sharing service intended to trade music files created by Shawn Fanning and Sean Parker while they were still at Boston University. The original service operated between June 1999 and July 2001.
In 1999, Recording Industry Association of America sues Napster in federal court in San Francisco alleging copyright infringement such as the Heavy Metal Rock group Metallica and the rapper Dr. Dre .
The next year, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich and the band's attorney produce a list of more than 335,000 Internet user names of people the band says are illegally sharing their songs using Napster.
On February 2001, The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco rules that the online music service must stop trading in copyrighted material.
On March 2001, Judge Patel issues an order, effective immediately, requiring Napster to remove copyrighted material from its service within three business days after it receives notice of infringement from the music industry.
On June 2001, A 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upholds its February decision that Napster contributes to copyright infringement and must remove protected works from its song-swapping service.
On June 5th,2001, Napster announces that it is becoming an affiliate of MusicNet - an online song subscription service. The same year, to settle a lawsuit, Napster strikes a deal with the National Music Publishers' Association to pay $26 million for past unauthorized use of music and $10 million down payment on future royalties. The deal also sets up terms under which songwriters and music publishers can license music to Napster's upcoming fee-based service.
The lawsuits and court decisions constrained Napster to pay amazing money to compensate the producers, labels and authors.
For me, all this relentlessness with Napster is justified because it is such file-sharing websites that threaten music artists’ jobs. If everyboby begun to download musics without paying, singers and producers would not have any income.
Today, you can listen musics on the Napster's web site, but you are just allowed to listen to 30 second of the song if you are not in the US.

New Radiohead CD
Radiohead released their 2007 album In Rainbows on their website.
When fans heard the news, they understood that they could download for free the album on the website.
The different versions available of the album are on a digital CD on the website or on a physical CD in a music store. Moreover, fans can choose the price of the CD.
Music industry experts say that all bands can follow Radiohead’s example. It can bring some new fans to the band. For example, Prince did the same for one of his albums.
Today, released models are controversial because records companies will no longer earn as much money as before.

My Desert Island Discs
My first choice is :
1) Tonite - Montell Jordan
When I listen to this song, I want to have fun with my friends all night long. It makes me feel like dancing.
2) Gangsters Paradise - Coolio
This song is extracted from the film "Dangerous minds" with Michelle Pfeiffer. I loved the film as much as the song. The tune is very pleasant to listen to.
3) Ghetto - Akon
The lyrics of the song are very touching. It is about the disastrous situation of guettos in the US,no matter what ethnic minority community lives there.
4) Billie Jean - Mickael Jackson
This song is unique. It is a classic, as well as Tonight by Montell Jordan. It makes me feel like dancing like "the king of pop"
5) Wicked Game - Chris Isaak
I love this song because I think it is very pleasant to listen to. I have always said, when you listen to this song, you want to make babies.
6) Baby can I hold you - Tracy Chapman
Tracy Chapman's voice is bewitching. When you listen to this song, you let yourself be carried away in her musical universe easily.
7) Kiling me softly - The Fugees
I listen to this song in nostalgic moments. I like to listen to it when I am alone. Lauryn Hill's voice is unique as well as Tracy Chapman's.
8) Seven seconds - Youssou N'Dour, Neneh Cherry
I like the tune very much and Youssou N'Dour's voice is different from the oher singers'. The duet Youssou N'Dour and Neneh Cherry was an excellent idea.
9) Dalmata feat J. Alvarez - Que raro
My biggest passion remains the Raggaeton music. I love this kind of music because the background musics are very soft and very pleasant to listen to. Spanish is one of the languages I enjoy hearing in song.
10) Randy - Sensacion del bloque
I never grow weary of this song. It is one the those I listen to the most at the moment.

Most Hilarious and Worst American Idol Ever!!!
This video is very funny. I knew right away that I would choose it.
"American Idol" is the American version of "La nouvelle star" in France.
Many people who go to the casting have a real potential to become a singer.
Others think they have it but they don't!!!
James Lewis is one of them.
Despite his imposing size,he appears to be very sensitive. He is really touching.
From the beginning, we already notice that music and singing are very important for him. The problem is that nobody told him whether he was a good singer or not before.
Even if the jury laughs at his performance,he doesn't give up and he decides to try again his luck next year.
Take heart! It's when you work hard and you persevere that you finally achieve your goal.
See you next year James !!!

My past and Present
I was born in Brou-Sur-Chanteriene, a small town near Chelles in Seine et Marne. I spent twelve years in Lognes, then I moved in Collégien in the east of the suburbs of Paris. In June 2003, I passed my Baccalauréat in the scientific section in Jean Moulin High School located in Torcy. Then, I integrated the IUT of Cachan in the electronic department. I got my degree. After that, I took several competitive examinations in order to join an Engineering school. In the end, I decided to enter the IFIPS. My training course is divided between my lessons at school and the time spent in SIEMENS Transportation Systems Company. I am in charge of analyzing security studies on railroad materials.
My future
or five things I'd like to have accomplished in the next five years
1) Find a job in an aerospace company
Since my childhood, I have always been fascinated by science fiction movies. The universe intrigues me. That is why I want to take part in space launching projects for the European Space Agency.
2) Be a property owner
I am planning to buy a house next year. I have been given the possibility to buy a small apartment which is not very expensive. I think I will take it.
3) Go to Mexico to visit a friend
One of my best friends lives in Mexico with his girlfriend. He invited me to pay him a visit. He said it was a lovely country and he told me that we had to see the Aztec pyramids absolutely.
4) Learn how to dance the Merengue
Last December for the holidays, I went to Havana in Cuba. I discovered this dance which is very beautiful but at the same time very technical. I think it is very agreeable to see.
5) Visit Japan
I have been in influenced by the Japanese culture thanks to my father who is a big fan of Japanese traditions. I am fascinated by Japanese history and I love Japanese food.
